ReThink Media is a unique, non-profit organization focused on building the individual and collaborative communications capacity of nonprofit think tanks, experts, and advocacy groups working toward a more constructive US foreign and national security policy, the protection of human and civil rights and strengthening our democracy.

The Community We Serve includes the foremost leaders, thinkers and organizers in the fields of disarmament, nonproliferation, conflict prevention, human and civil rights and electoral and judicial reform. They are leading efforts to provide innovative solutions to complex problems, promote positive engagement in meeting today's global challenges and ensure the full participation of all Americans.

Our Work is driven by our own personal background as issue advocates and our belief that the stronger the groups are in an issue sector overall, and the tighter their collaboration, the more likely they are to win real lasting victories.

Our Experience has proven that providing shared resources, eliminating duplication of efforts among organizations, developing agreed-upon over arching messages and providing consulting advice and staff support can successfully penetrate media discourse and move issues forward.

Since our founding in 2008 we have played a central role in multi-organizational efforts to reduce Pentagon spending; oppose discriminatory policies and prejudice directed against Muslim, Arab and South Asian Americans; successfully ratify the 2009 START treaty reducing nuclear arms; challenge the unlawful treatment of terror suspects and detainees; end the warrantless surveillance of citizens; pushback against racial profiling by the House Homeland Security Committee under the Chairmanship of Rep. Peter King; and build public support for a withdrawal from Afghanistan.

ReThink Media was Founded with a Clear Mission to provide our member groups and the collaboratives and campaigns we serve with affordable access to state-of-the-art media technologies, communications training, public opinion data and messaging support. Our nation has been poorly served by a narrow national security and foreign policy debate dominated by voices advocating excessively unilateral approaches to global issues and favoring military responses to complex problems.

Our Goal is to Level the Playing Field in Three Key Ways.

First, we aim to close the longstanding gap in resources, training and technology that has often made it harder for the groups we work with to get their message out in a competitive media environment.

Second, we focus on helping organizations and coalitions improve the strategic effectiveness of their communications by assisting them in targeting the right media outlets and reporters to advance their policy objectives.

And third, we provide real-time media, messaging and opinion research shared centrally across each of the sectors we serve in order to inform the crafting of successful messages that connect more effectively with the right audiences.

The organizations we work with have the right solutions for a more peaceful, secure, just and democratic society. Our mission is to make sure those solutions are heard.
