ReThink Media was founded by Lynn Fahselt and Peter Ferenbach
Lynn Fahselt has twenty years experience specializing in organizational development, strategic planning and messaging and marketing on foreign policy issues, as well as membership and fundraising communications.
Lynn has conducted extensive media coverage analysis on a wide range of national security and human rights policy issues and was part of an international research team conducting groundbreaking research in a five country study of globalization themes in television news coverage. Lynn completed a senior Fellowship at Fenton Communications as part of her Masters degree in Global Media and Communications and has served as a communications consultant to Fenton, the Ploughshares Fund, The Carnegie Corporation, the Peace and Security Initiative, the Open Society Institute, the Proteus Fund and others.

Peter Ferenbach is a veteran communications and advocacy strategist. Since the mid-1980s, he has worked on political and communications strategies for peace and security organizations. He has designed national advertising campaigns, pitched and developed relationships with reporters, and conducted intensive workshops in strategic communications and effective messaging.
Speaking on foreign policy issues he has been a guest on more than 200 radio programs as well as on both local and national TV including FOX, ABC, CNN and PBS. His commentaries have been published in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and other print outlets as well as in numerous on-line publications. He has secured favorable coverage in newspapers throughout California as well as in USA Today and the New York Times.
Peter holds a BA from Georgetown University and a Graduate Certificate in Global Media and Communications from the University of Melbourne.
Nathan Britton, Senior Associate has seven years of experience in strategic communications and press relations in both government and nonprofit advocacy settings. He served as communications director, press secretary and speechwriter for members of both the House of Representatives and the US Senate. Over four years on Capitol Hill, he established strong relationships with reporters and built a solid track record of securing national and local print and broadcast coverage. In the process, he gained considerable insight into the changing media landscape, the news cycle, and what reporters and editors are - and are not - looking for. He has placed op-eds in newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, San Jose Mercury News and San Francisco Chronicle. He also oversaw the successful launch of one member's political action committee as well as the PAC's internet presence and public opinion research. Prior to his time in Washington, Nathan worked for five years in non-profit advocacy.
David Saldana, Senior Associate, has a Masters Degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism and has most recently worked as the Deputy Editorial Director at Media Matters for America. Prior to working for Media Matters, David was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Journalism at Iowa State University. David has also served as the Communications Director of the United Electrical Workers and was as an Emmy Award-winning television news producer. David has a law degree from the University of Southern California and is admitted to practice by the California Bar. As an attorney (for five years prior to returning to communications work) he focused on labor and civil liberties cases. As the Regional Vice President of the National Lawyers Guild, David also worked on racial profiling and police accountability issues.
Mark Reading-Smith, National Security & Human RIghts Rapid Response Coordinator, has four years of experience working in Washington D.C. as a senior researcher/writer/editor for the Fund for Independence in Journalism. In his time at the Fund he was the lead researcher, co-writer, and point person in the roll out of Iraq: The War Card; a two and a half year investigative report became the most widely viewed investigation in the twenty year history of the Center for Public Integrity. Additionally he helped co-produce a future documentary, based on interviews with twenty-five of the most prominent American investigative journalists and contributed research and writing to an upcoming book by Charles Lewis. Prior to working at the Fund, Mark served at the Center for Public Integrity and conducted research for their best-selling book, The Buying of the President 2004. Mark holds bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and Political Philosophy.
Tenzin Shakya, Media Relations & Admin Associate, comes to Rethink with more than four years of experience working in various fields of Administrations and Operations from both sides of private and non-profit worlds. A Tibetan native, born in Nepal and raised in India, Tenzin moved to California at the age of nine. Tenzin is currently studying Journalism at San Francisco State university with a minor in Women Studies. Her main interests include social justice, equality, public policy, human rights and free speech. She serves on the board of the SF Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, working to promote educational and cultural activities for Tibetan youth in the Bay Area. Tenzin has been a volunteer with local organizations such as The American Red Cross, Students for Free Tibet, Global Exchange, One Brick, Stand Up for Kids, The battered women's center and the Tibetan Association of Northern California. Tenzin is fluent in three different languages; Tibetan, English and Hindi.
Daniel Toman, Media & Technology Associate, comes to Rethink Media from Portland, Oregon, where he worked in radio, print, and online journalism, and freelance web development. As a web and print production designer for Willamette Week, Portland’s award-winning alternative weekly newspaper, Daniel designed a new web 2.0-inspired homepage, managed the web presentation of weekly news stories, developed interactive news graphics, created web ads and email marketing templates, and helped develop several new online features including an event finder and a user-powered cityguide. He also worked on KBOO Community Radio’s Evening News broadcast, where he was a reporter, news writer and audio engineer, and produced original reporting on US/Mexico border issues.
Amisha Patel, Assistant Polling Analyst, comes to ReThink with three years of experience working in strategic communications and public policy at various non-profits. She was most recently the Media and Communications Coordinator at the Partnership for Global Security. Amisha holds bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Communications from the University of California, San Diego. She will pursue an MA in Security Studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University this fall.
