Managing Director, Peace and Security
Jim Baird is Managing Director at ReThink Media, where he oversees ReThink's Peace & Security portfolio. Jim has advised a Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and numerous high-level government officials and NGO leaders on communications strategy.
Prior to joining ReThink, Jim served four years as the communications director of the Stimson Center. There he led the Center's strategic planning and daily communications operations on a broad portfolio of global security, environmental, and economic issues. During his tenure, Stimson achieved rapid growth and its highest media footprint in the organization's 30-year history. The Center was recognized by the University of Pennsylvania as a leader among global think tanks for its innovative public engagement, use of digital media, and policy impact. From 2010-2014, Jim worked on ReThink Media's Peace and Security team.
Baird is an editor at Inkstick Media, and a contributing reporter covering the people, culture, and events that drive big-time college football for SB Nation’s Land-Grant Holy Land. He previously traveled the country profiling some of the sport's leading personalities and programs as a national college football contributor for Sporting News. Baird has a Master of Science in politics and communication from The London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and political science from The Ohio State University. He lives in Washington, D.C. and is currently writing a book on the strategies used by underdogs to succeed in hypercompetitive marketplaces.
