Nancy is an Associate Professor of Law at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, MI, and a nationally recognized legal scholar and expert on Title IX, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence in education. In October 2022, she was also appointed Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity & Belonging at Wayne Law.
“I have known about and been fascinated by ReThink Media's mission for many years. As a lifelong feminist, political progressive, and, more recently, law professor heavily involved in the civil rights law-based movement against sexual harassment and gender-based violence, I have struggled with how to influence media narratives dominated by whites, by men, and by political reactionaries. Since approximately 2014, when my area of legal expertise, Title IX, became a prominent issue on the national stage, and activists in the Title IX Movement almost immediately began experiencing heavy political backlash, I have had more and more contact with journalists and editors. Those experiences have, if anything, increased my dissatisfaction and frustration with the standard playbook of the mainstream media, and I want to join and support ReThink's efforts to rewrite at least parts of that playbook.”
