Nick Lyell is a Senior Media Associate for the Democracy Collaborative. He works with leading communicators in the democracy movement on executing a range of strategies and tactics. Nick is also responsible for curating daily news clips; highlighting rapid response opportunities; crafting, pitching, and placing op-eds; and maintaining relationships with the most important reporters covering democracy issues. He is passionate about money in politics, and has years of experience crafting compelling digital, graphic, and video content.
Before joining ReThink, Nick managed digital communications at the National Association of Counties (NACo), elevating NACo's overall brand and position as a thought-leader in the local government space. He helped build NACo's digital communications efforts, and in this capacity produced a wide range of new video, web, and other content that support NACo's mission and vision.
Nick holds a B.S. in Political Science, Economics, and Latin American Studies from the University of Wisconsin and moved to DC in 2012 to join the movement for democracy. He has been a paid or volunteer member of the movement ever since. When not working on narrative and documentary film projects, Nick reads way too much science fiction, plays any sport he can talk his friends into, plays indie video games, and enjoys solving math and programming puzzles.
