Timothy Farnsworth, Managing Director of the Peace and Security Collaborative, joined ReThink in April 2016. He is the lead manager for ReThink's work in the peace and security field, with the goal of strengthening both the individual capacity of organizations and the strategic communications impact of the sector as a whole. This includes working to develop shared media and messaging strategies, providing media skills training, building rapid response capacity, providing analysis of the leading reporters in this field, and supporting multi-organizational campaigns.
Prior to joining ReThink, Tim was the communications director for the Arms Control Association. He brings over eight years of communications experience and is a recognized leader in the nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation sector. He has been extensively involved in driving nuclear and other peace and security issues in the news, including efforts to oblige presidential candidates to address the nuclear budget, raise the profile of select nonproliferation experts, and placing commentaries in many leading publications. He has also shown proven success with incorporating digital media tools and strategies into organization’s communications strategy and larger issue campaigns.
Since moving to Washington, Tim has become a big supporter of Washington sports. You can often find him cheering on the Washington Nationals or D.C. United. Tim is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego where he earned a B.A. in political science with a concentration in international relations and minored in public policy.
