FRANK YUWEN CHEN

Senior Communications Associate, Peace & Security

Frank Yuwen Chen is the Senior Communications Associate in the Peace & Security team, overseeing ReThink’s nuclear disarmament portfolio while helping the team and the arms control and disarmament community develop expertise on China.

Frank brings a wealth of political communications skills and deep knowledge of U.S.–China relations to the team. Prior to joining ReThink, he helped found and lead the progressive media nonprofit The Gravel Institute, led paid media and digital strategy for progressive campaigns and nonprofits like Andrew Romanoff for Senate and Michigan Action, and helped manage the viral insurgent Mike Gravel 2020 presidential campaign.

Frank graduated from the American University with a BA in International Relations, a BA in Political Science, and a minor in Communication and is based in DC. He is bilingual in Mandarin and English and has been learning French, Russian, and German.

In his free time, Frank enjoys traveling, sailing, reading history, being in nature, and taking his cat Margot (who often makes Zoom appearances) out for walks. Eventually he hopes he’ll get around to thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and circumnavigate the globe in a sailboat.
